If your school can’t afford to invest in video-editing software, Jumpcut offers a low-cost alternative to getting students and staff up and running on innovative projects that incorporate digital video.
Students actually make online videos directly in Jumpcut’s browser—editing, mixing, and adding music on-site. They can then post them, YouTube-style, for parents to view.
So you have found stuff on You Tube and what are you doing with it? Have you set up an account and are you storing it in your favourites? maybe you could have a science class page with a shared login… perhaps your homework could be to find a video that illustrates a concept? This way a collective pool of videos are collected that the students have found interesting…
15 Computers (12 would be half of a senior class) with sibelius (have 11 licences) / finale / auralia (have six licences) / musician (no licences).

Server Room: We need to address the state of the server rack. The new servers do not fit and the current situation is not “quake proof” or OSH acceptable due to the need to provide suitable airflow behind the servers, resulting in unrestrained servers on rails. They can move very easily should they be caught by clothes or shaken by movement. Currentally getting a quote on costs of a proper rack.
Data projector (with no show / freeze please) new epsons do have a freeze

Lights are a concern as they are moved off sight for other events and can not be relied upon… are the lights ours / Trevors / what is the revenue gathered balanced against the loss of lights and the inconvenience caused?
A Close up article on open source software a helpful introduction for those that have no idea what we talk about when we discuss open source such as our intranet Moodle.
Box.net has 1 gig free online storage… worth thinking about it also has a widget for wordpress sites. Maybe a useful tool for us to add files that relate to our site and work.
Please add here anything that you would like to add for this meeting:

We taught the skills of mindmapping / brainstorming through the Jnr Computing programmes in school using Inspiration. Inspiration is a good programme, however, it could only be bought as one licence per computer, there was no site wide option. As a result we only had it available in the suite where it was taught, and on only a few teachers’ laptops.
This meant that the students had knowledge that was not able to be reinforced by teachers. Many teachers had no idea about the programme. To remedy this we have bought a sitewide licence for SmartIdeas. This allows the skills that are taught to Junior students through the ICL (Information Communication Literacy) and IMA (information Management) courses to continue into the classroom. It is now available on every computer in the school.
The next question is how do students take advantage of their new skills when they are at home? They can view mind maps they have created at school through the web but if they wanted to make one at home how would they achieve this?
Bubblus provides an online version of mindmapping that can be used by students at home.
Giving the new function of Google maps a crack. You can now save your maps that you have created and share them with others / place on your web pages using your Google account. Have used it as a guide for out of towners to find our place and get a sense of direction when they arrive for the wedding.
If you click on this link hopefully it does something like it should.
